What is Medicare?
Medicare is the federal health insurance program in the United States that provides coverage for people over 65 and some younger people with disabilities and specific illnesses.
People aged 65 years and over
Anyone who is at least 65 years of age and is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who has lived in the United States for at least 5 consecutive years.
People under age 65 with certain disabilities
People of any age with end-stage renal disease (ESRD)
Who are paid Social Security disability benefits.
